About Us

Paper People Books and Games is an indie bookshop (which is far bigger than it looks on the outside), with a fantastic variety in genre and themes, meaning you will never leave with books too similar each time!

Run by Jack and Jess, we opened in August 2025, becoming a staple of the high street in Pateley Bridge. Nestled in Nidderdale, just a few miles from the border with the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it is an absolutely stunning location with spectacular views whichever way you look, there is no better place to be in our opinion!

Games

Alongside books, we also stock a variety of games. This includes SmartGames, Orchard Toys, University Games and more. Most of our games are aimed at the younger ones, which are brilliant for a holiday activity and presents, especially easy Christmas presents and stocking fillers! We also stock Warhammer (at discounted prices), which is a wonderful hobby and great for all ages.

Our clubs

With it being a very rural location, we found there are few things to do, which is why we run two clubs. One of which unsurprisingly is a book club, this is on once a month, we read all sorts – never just one category! Our other club is Warhammer club on Friday nights, which provides a warm and relaxed environment to engross yourself in the hobby with fellow enthusiasts. It is worth noting that both clubs do require prior notice to your attendance, so pop by and enquire!

Visiting us

Our shop is dog friendly, child friendly, mess friendly – so there are no worries about who can come in! We are located just 10 metres from the main car park, which is easily accessible for everyone. You will find us in the courtyard, just next to The Tordoff Gallery and opposite Sypeland Outdoors. Our shop does have a few steps inside, but the grown-ups’ reading room and games room are easy to access.
